We can ALL learn from a dumpster fire. Roni and Myself attended Philly Puppet Slam! (SHOUT OUT to co-coordinator Maysie O'Brian ) at Studio 34 - The HUB of the Philadelphia Fringe. Kudos to all involved - what we saw was an amazing community of audience and artists just needing to craft through puppetry and process what so many of us are experiencing recently. I personally was taken by so many both wonderful and magical moments; One being an ancient neighbor, handing out pieces of space; or an illuminated exterminator and his pesky possums; or a horror filled heirloom that lurks in the shadows, and well the list goes on (I think there were 8+ acts) down to - where my Theatre for Young Audience heart gushed - a beautifully crafted hand puppet show with a story of friendship, words and the power of those things together; how a story can become part of us, how story is a part of us. Thats it. Go Support! Puppet On! - Chad - (P.S. Y'all I don't know much about formatting these - but here are some pics and a link to find out about the slam and the artists! Hope it's not a mess!
We have such a large community all over this Greater Philadelphia and Philadelphia Area Puppetry Guild - Please - go out and support what you do! We know it's hard - But how about once a year? Around Philly Fringe time - Maybe tonight?!
