More About the Workshop - In this all-experience levels workshop, local shadow puppeteer, Maisie O'Brien, will guide us in constructing and engineering shadow puppets using recycled everyday materials. Maisie will share puppets from their own short films and live performances, and then walk through different jointing and gesture techniques, puppet rod attachments for upright and horizontal shadow screen set ups, as well as address first steps in designing your shadow puppets within the context of your projects. Participants will have time to tinker and try out their individual creations on a variety of shadow screens. All materials will be provided, but participants are encouraged to bring any interesting found object materials whose texture or translucency may translate well into shadow.
